2016 AOC Alsace 'La Chimère'

Nice light yellow colour. Stony and subtle aromas. So clean! The aromas are many, but refined – pineapple, apple, peach, lemon, white flowers – and the limestone is very prominent. Slight texture, gentle delivery, nice and stony and free. No classic rubber or petrol Riesling characteristics which is nice for a change - this is more about purity. The length is even and gentle. Perhaps a very tiny spritz, which gives it a lift. The acidity isn’t intense, but I like that – just very well balanced. After time the limestone is very prominent on the nose. Low alc, nice tension on the finish with a hint of grip. I’m never really one to drink Riesling, but I would drink this all the time. So delicate and pure.
