2015 VDF 'Rive Droite'

Reynald Héaulé

Regular price $60 750ml Sale

100% Organic Chardonnay from the Right bank, where the vineyards are clay and limestone. Direct press, debourbage, then élevage for 30 months in old demi-muid.

Also gold in colour, not quite as toned as 2014. More perfumed, more powerful than 14, but still restrained. Similar notes of honey, apricot tart and apple tartin and some gentle oxidative notes representing nuts and grains. Enters the mouth slightly more lacquerous, but the palate weight is light and refined. Bruised apple, lemon pith, saline notes and that long, lingering acidity. The minerality comes later, and you feel the tension which is very fine and like having powder remain on your tongue and gums for quite some time. The acidity is not intense, but it works its way into every crevice gently, and stays for an eternity. Not electric, but very bright. Interesting to taste the 14 and 15 side by side, to understand his style and the gentle difference between vintages. On the nose you have the nuttiness of Jura, but way more restrained. Very clean and mouthwatering, with excellent balance. No signs of alcohol, and perfectly balanced at 12%.
